Born and raised near Pasadena California in the 1950's Ty took up the trumpet at an early age and was greatly influenced by his father Fred T. Newcomb who also played the trumpet.
After attending Arizona State University on a full Music Scholarship Ty went on the road playing trumpet for 10 years with a Rock Show Band called The Gringos. After touring 32 States, Alaska, Hawaii and Switzerland the group recorded an album for United Artists before disbanding in 1981.
Ty had already settled on Cape Cod and soon became the Director of the Cape Cod Conservatory Jazz Ensemble where to this day he puts on many benefit concerts for worthy causes cape wide.
His "day gig" finds him designing/selling residential and commercial Fire and Burglar Alarm Systems for a major Cape Cod Alarm Company.
